Photographic study: young woman beneath the apple tree

Study photograph by Theodore Robinson: the model, unidentified, poses standing against an apple tree before a stone wall. Robinson photographed his subjects in order to transfer them at full scale onto the canvas. The collection links this series to the paintings “The Potato Harvest”, “In the Garden” and “The Layette”. The date proposed follows that of the paintings it served to compose.
