A young woman in a large black hat trimmed with a green ribbon. The Terra Foundation catalogue identifies the sitter as Edith, the artist’s second daughter: it is therefore not a self-portrait, contrary to what tradition reported. The canvas is indeed by Lilla Cabot Perry.
